Shower floor: from regrout to new tile

This Selma shower started as a regrout. When the floor kept failing, the better fix was a new floor. Large hexagon tile looks simple, but the pattern has to land evenly at all four walls and around the drain, so before anything was set, the tile was laid out dry on a full-size frame of the shower floor to plan every cut. Then the tile was set with spacers, the drain trimmed in and the floor grouted to match the white subway walls.

Water damage beside the shower

Brown stains and peeling paint on the baseboard next to a shower usually mean water has been getting past the caulk at the shower frame for a while. Painting over it doesn't last. We cut out the damaged drywall and baseboard, replace them, paint to match and recaulk the shower so the water stops.

Under-sink cabinet floors

A slow leak under a kitchen sink can go unnoticed until the cabinet floor goes soft or starts to swell. Once the leak is fixed, we cut out the damaged floor and fit new plywood so the cabinet is solid again. On this Selma visit, new baseboards and a railing repair were on the same list.

Drywall patches

Doorknob holes, anchors pulled out of the wall and openings left after other trades have finished are all quick fixes. We patch, texture and paint so the repair blends into the wall. Local contractors call us too: we followed behind an electrician to close up and finish the walls once their work was done.

Doors, fence posts and other repairs

Storm doors that drag, front doors that let in drafts, and bifold or accordion doors that drift open are some of our most common Selma calls. Most are fixed in one visit by adjusting the hardware and replacing worn seals. We also reset fence posts, swap light fixtures and work through the rest of your list on the same trip.

"We called for service on our bifold door. It was a tough problem and we needed someone with experience and skill. Bradley came by very promptly. He figured things out quickly and made the adjustments, staying with it until it was fixed. Excellent service."

Bathrooms that are easier to use

When a family member needs a safer bathroom, we start with a visit to look at how the room is used: where a grab bar belongs, whether the tub or shower entry is the problem, and what can change without a full remodel. Grab bars go into studs wherever placement allows. See aging in place for the full range.

Who comes to your home

How pricing works

We bill by time and materials rather than set prices, because every list is different and some repairs, like water damage, aren't fully known until the wall is opened. Projects of $2,000 or more may qualify for 0% financing for 6 months, subject to approval.

Frequently asked questions

What home repairs do you handle in Selma?

Most Selma calls are for shower tile and grout, water-damaged drywall and baseboard, cabinet floors, doors that stick or won't latch, siding and trim, and bathroom updates like grab bars. If it's on your list, call and ask, and we'll tell you if it's something we handle.

Can you replace just the shower floor tile?

Often, yes. If the walls are sound, we can take out the old floor tile, check what's underneath and lay a new floor that meets the existing wall tile. If the floor has been leaking, we'll show you what we find before going further.

What causes water damage at the bottom of a wall next to a shower?

Usually caulk that has failed where the shower frame or tub meets the wall, so water gets behind the baseboard every time the shower runs. We replace the damaged drywall and baseboard, paint, and recaulk so it doesn't come back.

Do you repair siding in Selma?

Yes. We replace damaged or rotted siding and trim, re-lock loose vinyl panels, and seal the gaps so water stays out. If the damage goes behind the siding, we'll show you before going further.

Can you do several small repairs in one visit?

Yes. Give us the full list when you call, and we'll schedule enough time to finish it in one trip.

Are your craftsmen employees or subcontractors?

Employees. Every craftsman is a background-checked, insured Ace Handyman Services W-2 employee, and the work carries our one-year workmanship warranty.
