Front doors
Doors are the most common job we do in Wendell. Many are a quick fix: an adjustment so the door latches, new weatherstripping or a sweep to stop a draft, or a new lockset. A wood front door that has faded in the sun doesn't always need replacing, either. Sanding it back to bare wood, restaining it and sealing it with a protective clear coat brings the grain back and protects it from the next few years of weather.

Rot and exterior trim
Rot usually starts where water sits: roof corners, the bottom of trim boards and anywhere caulk has cracked open. Caught early, it's a contained repair. The soft wood is cut out, a new piece is fitted, and the joints are sealed and painted so water can't get back in.

"Great job. Really nice job cleaning up the joints of sealant on my siding. Very happy."

Drywall repair
A door handle through the wall, a water stain on the ceiling or cracks along a seam: drywall damage is one of the most common calls from Wendell homeowners. We cut back to solid drywall, patch it, match the wall texture, and paint so the repair disappears. If trim or baseboard was damaged too, it's replaced in the same visit.

"Eric was very mindful of our space and belongings, gave a detailed overview of the work he would be carrying out prior to the start, showed me progress updates and how the work was going, and even offered to and completed other jobs we had not request during down time (drywall setup and paint drying). Thanks again for the help!"

Bathroom remodeling and grab bars
Most Wendell bathrooms don't need a gut remodel. Our bathroom work usually comes in one of three sizes:
- A repair: a new exhaust fan, a bathtub repair, a loose towel bar re-anchored or failed caulk replaced. Usually one visit.
- A refresh: a new vanity and faucet, a regrouted and recaulked shower, a new tile floor and fresh paint, with the layout left where it is.
- A retile or shower rebuild: the old tub surround comes out, the wall behind it is repaired and waterproofed, and the shower and floor are tiled new.
For larger projects we start with a visit to measure and look at what's behind the walls, so the estimate is accurate. We don't move walls or change a room's layout. See our bathroom remodeling services for the full scope.
Grab bars are one of the simplest bathroom upgrades. We anchor them into wall studs, or through tile in a shower, and check that each one holds before we leave. They often go in alongside a new shower or a raised toilet as part of an aging-in-place project. See grab bar installation.
Small jobs, one visit
Most of our Wendell visits cover more than one item. A water-damaged shelf, a torn screen door, a small drywall patch and a couple of drawers to repaint can all go on one list. Tell us everything when you call, and we'll schedule enough time to finish it.

"We hired Ace Handyman services to replace a water-damaged shelf, re-screen a door, patch an area around our ceiling fan, and freshen up two kitchen drawers with paint. Eric arrived on time and completed the job efficiently with no compromise of quality. Everything looked great and I couldn't tell anything was ever in need of repair."

Who will come to your home?
Every Ace Handyman Services craftsman is a background-checked, insured W-2 employee, not a subcontractor. You'll get a call the evening before your appointment and an on-my-way text with your craftsman's name and photo, and every job is backed by our one-year workmanship warranty.
How pricing works
We bill by time and materials, so we don't publish a set price. The total depends on how many items are on your list, the materials, and any repairs we find underneath, such as rot behind trim. Projects of $2,000 or more may qualify for 0% financing for 6 months, subject to approval. Call and describe what you need, and we'll talk through the scope.

Frequently asked questions
Do you serve Wendell Falls and the other newer neighborhoods?
Yes. We work throughout Wendell, from Wendell Falls and the other newer subdivisions to the older homes near downtown. Newer homes often need builder-grade fixes such as doors that drift out of adjustment, nail pops and caulk that has pulled away, while older homes tend to need trim, rot and door repairs.
Can you do several small repairs in one visit?
Yes, and most Wendell visits do. Give us the full list when you call, such as a sticking door, a drywall patch, a loose towel bar and a shelf, and we'll schedule enough time to finish everything in one trip.
Do you refinish wood front doors?
Yes. If the door and frame are sound, a weathered wood door can be sanded, restained and sealed instead of replaced. If the bottom of the door or the frame is rotted, we'll explain whether a repair or a new door makes more sense.
Can you replace smoke and carbon monoxide detectors?
Yes. We replace smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the house and check that each one works before we leave. It's a quick job that pairs well with other items on a repair list.
Do you repair rotted trim and soffit?
Yes. We cut out the soft wood, fit new trim, fascia or soffit pieces, then seal and paint the joints so water can't get back in. If the rot goes deeper than the trim, we'll show you what we found before continuing.
Do you install attic ladders in Wendell?
Yes. We replace worn, wobbly or broken pull-down attic ladders and install new ones, sized to the ceiling opening and the floor-to-ceiling height so the ladder sits at a safe angle. See our attic ladder installation services.
