Springtime is here!
1) Air Filters and Batteries in your Smoke Detectors. Catch these before springtime allergens or the battery dies at 2 am and wakes everyone in the house... 2) Trim the bushes around your AC condenser and clean the coils. When your condenser has room to breathe, it will cool more efficiently, saving you energy. We all know that Air Conditioning is a must here in a couple of months! 3) Dryer ducts can get filled full of lint quickly. Emptying the lint trap in your dryer before each load is important to keeping down the amount of lint that makes it to your vent. When's the last time you had them cleaned out? 4) Are your gutters in good shape and ready for the spring rains? Now's a good time to fix any damage and get them ready for the upcoming weather. 5) Are your window wells or foundation vents cleaned out and allowing air to flow freely? 6) Check your window screens. Is your system ready for the new season? How's your yard looking? Here are some tips to get ready and make your yard the envy of the neighborhood. 1) If your system is on the irrigation canal, check your in-line screens to make sure that seeds that make it into the line are caught. Keeps the weeds down in the lawn! 2) Remember any sprinkler heads last year that were not working right or spraying wrong? Now's a good time to replace them before it could be difficult to find parts! 3) Check your irrigation controller. Sometimes when there are power spikes they can get factory reset and you will not have your timers set right, and the time and dates are off. Easy way to not be watering at the right time or for not enough time! 4) It's the perfect time to aerate or dethatch your lawn to promote the springtime growth. 5) Preemergent is a great springtime trick to knock back the weed seed that made it to your lawn, or you can put down some weed and feed when you see the new growth starting. 6) Morning time is the best time to spread weed killers on your lawn. All plants like to drink up early morning dew and you will get the best absorption of the treatment that you spread. 7) It's never too early to treat for bugs! A good granular product spread in a 6-foot-wide swath around the perimeter of the house is a great way of keeping pesky critters away when season hits. Hope these tips help make for a great season.
