Kevin Jenkins

Kevin Jenkins is the president and owner of McKinleyville Home & Garden Center. In this role, Kevin manages and leads all aspects of this business drawing on many years of experience though out his whole life.
He was born in 1965, at the old Trinity Hospital in Arcata California. From there he grew up in his family home in Arcata and attended Arcata High School and graduated from there in 1983.
He began his employment at age 14 at Larry’s Market in Arcata and continued his employment there while attending school at both Arcata High and College of the Redwoods.
During the summer Kevin would spend time in Willow Creek building his family cabin, installing electrical, plumbing and many other projects. In the fall of 1983 Kevin started to study at Humboldt State University. While studying at HSU he began buying houses and using those trade skills, restoring them.
Prior to starting McKinleyville Home & Garden Center in 1996, Kevin started working at Hense'ls Hardware in Arcata in 1986. He started as a sales associate and worked his way to store manger within the next 10 years of employment.
Kevin became a member of the Arcata Sunrise Rotary in 1992 and is a current member of the Mad River Rotary Club. He has been Rotarian of the year in 1998 and 1999 and has taken on the responsibility of being the Rotary president in the years of 2002-2003 and 2013-2014. Kevin is currently serving on the Board of Directors and he is Chair of the Membership and Youth Services Committees. In Kevin’s free time he in involved with the Mad River Rotary youth exchange program.
Kevin was also a committee member for the Ace Hardware Vision21. In this role he won the Leadership award in 2003 and in 2004 he won the Achievement Award for Customer Service & Community Support. Kevin has also been awarded the Ace Hardware Vision 21 Award every year from 1998 to current. This is an award that is given to the top 100 Ace Retailers. Kevin is a past President of the Ace Progressive Leaders Group and a Member of the Ace Hardware Best Practices Committee.
Kevin is a past Board Member of the Arcata Chamber of Commerce and the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce, Ducks Unlimited Sportsman of the Year 2008 and received the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce Community Builder Award in 2010.
Kevin is the current Vice Chair of the McKinleyville Municipal Advisory Committee and he still loves to go to Willow Creek and is still working on the Family Cabin.
